Some Granite Advantage members will need to meet a new work and community engagement requirement to keep their Medicaid coverage. This means completing at least 80 hours of approved activities each month, such as work, education, job training, or community service, unless they qualify for an exemption. Qualifying activities include:
- Working at least 80 hours per month
- Completing at least 80 hours of community service
- Participate in a work/job program for at least 80 hours
- Be enrolled in an educational program at least half-time
- Have a monthly income that is not less than the applicable federal minimum wage (approximately $580 per month)
- Be a seasonal worker and have an average monthly income over the preceding six months that is not less than the applicable federal minimum wage multiplied by 80 hours per month; or
- A combination of these activities totaling at least 80 hours per month
Exceptions:
Some Granite Advantage members may qualify for an exemption from the work and community engagement requirement. Federal exemptions may apply to certain individuals, including those who are medically frail, pregnant, or meet other qualifying criteria:
- Caregivers of children ages 13 and under or caregivers of disabled individuals
- Medically frail individuals
- Members who are pregnant or postpartum
- Former foster youth under age 26
- American Indians or Alaska Natives
- Individuals meeting TANF or SNAP requirements
- Veterans with total disability
- Individuals in qualifying substance use disorder rehabilitation or treatment programs
- Individuals recently released from incarceration (within the past three months)
